Neighborhood Revitalization Program
CCF's other program is "Neighborhood Revitalization". Its goal is to assist
neighborhoods to become empowered, self-sufficient, resilient and vibrant. It
seeks systemic change to enable neighbors to develop a social web of
support. Strong neighborhood relationships generate individuals truly
committed to improving their neighborhoods. Many come together to work
on projects like better safety. We intend to create mentoring programs
for youth in those neighborhoods. The neighborhood youth are likely to
have been involved in our Palabra program at school. That makes it
easier to address violence, but at the neighborhood level, which is
where we can get to the roots of social ills like violence. We will
follow an approach based on what has worked best in revitalizing
neighborhoods. CFF and other partners will "lead by stepping back "so
that neighbors become empowered by making the decisions on priorities
and resource allocation themselves.
